USD Plays Host to Texas Arlington Tonight

SAN DIEGO — A couple of teams heading in different directions meet tonight when the University of San Diego plays host to Texas Arlington in a nonconference men’s basketball game at 7:30.
USD (6-4) comes into the game with a three-game winning streak, and Texas Arlington (2-5) has four-straight losses.
However, USD has played inconsistently in its three victories. The Toreros have been getting consistent play from junior guard Efrem Leonard, who scored a career-high 24 points against United States International Saturday, but they have had trouble scoring inside.
Center Jim Pelton made just 1 of 9 shots against USIU and the Toreros made just 5 of 17 attempts from inside the key.
Texas Arlington doesn’t pose any size problems for USD’s offense, but the Mavericks’ best scorers play up front. Senior forward Ike Mitchell leads Texas Arlington in scoring with a 16.5 average.
