Fire Hits Home in Huntington Beach

Fire damaged an abandoned two-story house Tuesday in downtown Huntington Beach that had been ordered torn down by the city fire marshal, officials said.
The house, located at 412 5th St., was used by transients, but there was no one inside when the fire occurred about 10 a.m., Fire Marshal Jim Vincent said.
A man who entered the burning house to look for occupants was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries.
The cause of the fire had not been determined. The house was heavily damaged, but no dollar estimate was available, Vincent said.
The owner had been ordered by the city to either secure the dilapidated building or tear it down, Vincent said. The house is located in the heart of the city’s revitalization area.
