KaiserTech narrowed its operating loss for 1987 to $4.6 million from a loss of $94.2 million the year before. The Oakland firm, parent of Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical, had a 1987 net loss of $362 million, including $400 million from a corporate restructuring and layoffs. The previous year, the company recorded a $39.8-million net loss, which included gains totaling $64.7 million. Sales rose 1% to $1.99 billion. KaiserTech credited the operating improvements to cost reduction programs.
