Volleyball Roundup : Alemany Stages Comeback to Top Notre Dame in 5 Games

The Alemany High girls rallied from a 11-14 deficit in the final game at Notre Dame to win the 3-hour, 20-minute San Fernando Valley League match, 15-5, 4-15, 15-11, 13-15, 16-14.
Anne Sasadeusz had 13 kills, Staci Baldwin and Brenda Nix had 12 each and Michelle Paul added 10. Stephanie Burns led Notre Dame (1-1 in league play) with 11 kills. Alemany is 5-1, 1-1 in league play.
In other girls’ matches:
Royal d. Simi Valley 15-8, 15-1, 15-12--Carina Sailer, Beth Kohs and Wendy Brown each had 9 kills to lead the Highlanders.
Chatsworth d. Cleveland, 15-4, 15-7--Shawn Davison had 8 kills and Jill Torres added 7 service aces to lead the Chancellors (5-1, 2-0).
Taft d. El Camino Real, 15-9, 16-14--Lynn Pinkus led Taft to its fourth consecutive win. The victory was Taft’s first over El Camino Real since 1984.
Calabasas d. Nordhoff, 15-2, 15-5, 15-13--Keri Ellman had 15 kills and Shari Sakamoto had 9 digs for Calabasas.
Montclair Prep d. Marshall Fundamental, 15-9, 15-4, 15-12--Nikki Smith had 8 kills for Montclair Prep in the Alpha League match.
San Gabriel d. Hart, 15-3, 15-6, 15-3--Kristin Wissig had 7 kills, but Hart (2-6, 0-2) was swept.
Canyon d. Quartz Hill, 11-15, 15-12, 15-11, 15-7--Ashley Ayres and Jill Bussard each had 10 kills to lead Canyon (6-0, 2-0).
La Reina d. Fillmore, 15-3, 15-8, 15-3--Heather Freeman had 7 kills to lead La Reina (8-3, 5-1).
Pilgrim d. L.A. Lutheran, 15-12, 15-7, 15-5--Laura Lopez had 3 kills for L. A. Lutheran.
L.A. Baptist d. Village Christian, 12-15, 15-10, 15-4, 15-7--Bernie Verwey had 12 kills for L. A. Baptist (7-0, 2-0).
Bell-Jeff d. St. Genevieve, 15-12, 15-8, 15-2--Nikki Gos had 9 kills lead Bell-Jeff.
WOMEN’S
Santa Barbara d. Glendale, 15-8, 15-6, 15-8--Kelly Figueroa had 11 kills but Glendale was defeated in a Western State Conference match.
