Score one for Newport Center/Fashion Island. The Newport Beach shopping center has snared Jindo Furs as a new tenant.
By Nov. 1, Fashion Island will be home for the Southern California headquarters of Jindo Furs. The company, based in Korea, will be the shopping center’s only furrier (although pelts are available at some anchor stores).
The 5,000-square-foot store will have on-site storage and will tailor furs so customers will not have to wait several days before walking out with their coats.
Jindo becomes Fashion Island’s only furrier since Michael Jacques--owner of Mr. Jacques Furrier, a Fashion Island tenant since the mall opened more than 20 years ago--packed up his pelts and retired on June 30.
Jindo is one of the world’s largest furriers, said mall general manager Robert P. Dornin, who added, “There was a real need for that type of furrier here. . . . Jindo will fill a natural void.”
The store will be in a prime spot at Fashion Island, near the front entrance to Atrium Court and across the parking lot from Amen Wardy.
