Local News in Brief : Daylong War on Graffiti Scheduled

Los Angeles residents will get a chance today to clean up every last bit of the graffiti that adorns the city’s park buildings.
Mayor Tom Bradley, City Council members and employees of the Department of Recreation and Parks will lead volunteers in the first “Great Graffiti Paint Out.”
The purpose of the paint-out is to have one day when there is no graffiti of any kind on department facilities. Painting will go on at all of the department’s 356 facilities with employees providing instruction and site supervision.
Department General Manager James Hadaway said special “Graffiti Doctor” vans equipped with sand blasters, cleaners, airless paint sprayers and paint of assorted colors will provide necessary equipment to volunteers.
