Burger King Corp. was accused in a lawsuit of relegating black owners of its fast-food franchises to unprofitable locations in poor, urban neighborhoods and reserving upscale outlets for whites. The discrimination and antitrust lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington by 12 black franchise holders, charged that Burger King gave white operators more lucrative locations as well as more favorable terms for financing and rent. “We can’t really respond until we have had an opportunity to see the suit and evaluate what the allegations are,” said Joyce Myers, a spokeswoman for Miami-based Burger King.
