Statue of Goddess Falls, Kills 5

DHAKA, Bangladesh — Five people were crushed to death and three others injured by a statue of a goddess named Durga when a truck carrying the idol overturned in the northern Bangladesh town of Ishurdi, it was reported today.
More than 15 worshipers were on the truck at the time of the accident. The Hindu goddess was being carried amid fanfare for immersion in the Ganges River after a 10-day festival.
