Rep. Pepper Released by Hospital After Surgery

WASHINGTON — Rep. Claude Pepper (D-Fla.), at 88 the oldest member of Congress, was discharged from Walter Reed Army Hospital on Monday after minor surgery, aides said. Administrative assistant Frances Campbell said Pepper entered the hospital last Thursday night and doctors on Friday removed “some scar tissue over where he had had a hernia.”
