Bobby Czyz gained a 10-round split decision over Leslie Stewart in a fight between former light-heavyweight champions in Atlantic City, N.J.
Czyz, a former International Boxing Federation 175-pound champion from Wanaque, N.J., built an early advantage with inside counter-punching and held the lead despite being floored in the eighth round.
Czyz, who weighed 174 pounds, improved to 33-3 with 23 knockouts. Stewart, of Trinidad, a former World Boxing Assn. champion who weighed 172, fell to 26-4 with 18 knockouts.
