Bruins Improve Record to 21-0 With Win Over BYU in Volleyball Tournament Final

Top-ranked UCLA defeated 8th- ranked Brigham Young University, 15-10, 15-10, 15-6, Saturday night to win the first Pacific 10 Conference Challenge women’s volleyball tournament at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (21-0) were led by freshman middle blocker Elaine Youngs, with 21 kills and 2 blocks, and junior middle blocker Daiva Tomkus, with 14 kills and 3 blocks. BYU’s Jill Plumb had 16 kills to lead the Cougars.
In the first match, Colorado State (13-8) defeated USC, 15-8, 15-8, 15-13.
Named to the all-tournament team were Youngs, Tomkus and Ann Boyer of UCLA; Plumb and Dylann Duncan of BYU; and Miller of Colorado State.
