East Roundup : Weather Is Fine for Mayweather and Army

Halfback Mike Mayweather rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Bryan McWilliams scored twice Saturday, leading Army to a 28-15 victory over Air Force in the rain at West Point, N.Y.
The win gives the Cadets (7-1) the chance to regain possession of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, emblematic of supremacy among the three service academies.
Air Force (5-4) is the defending champion and has already beaten Navy, 34-24. An Army victory over the Midshipmen Dec. 3 will give the Cadets the trophy for the fifth time. If Navy wins, Air Force keeps the trophy.
Penn State 17, Maryland 10--Gary Brown’s 10-yard touchdown run with 2:18 left gave the Nittany Lions their 24th consecutive victory over the Terrapins, at University Park, Pa.
With 4:12 left and the score tied, 10-10, Penn State (5-4) began its decisive 74-yard, 5-play drive with a 45-yard pass play from Lance Lonergan to David Daniels.
Syracuse 49, Navy 21--Robert Drummond rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another as the 16th-ranked Orangemen trounced the Midshipmen at Syracuse to set a school record with 14 consecutive home victories.
Syracuse (7-1) used its halfback pass play again, with tailback Michael Owens throwing a 28-yard touchdown pass to Deval Glover.
Navy (3-6) was held to 14 total yards in the first quarter and fell behind, 35-0, at one point.
Pittsburgh 20, Rutgers 10--Freshman Curvin Richards ran for 202 yards and a touchdown in 35 carries as the Panthers downed the Scarlet Knights at Pittsburgh for their third straight victory.
Ronald Redmon ran a yard for a third-period touchdown that gave Pitt a 10-0 lead, quarterback Darnell Dickerson rushed for 106 yards and Scott Kaplan kicked field goals of 33 and 18 yards for Pitt (5-3).
Rutgers (4-5), which has never won in 6 meetings with Pittsburgh, lost its third straight.
East Carolina 34, Temple 17--Willie Lewis ran for 2 touchdowns and the Pirates snapped an eight-game losing streak by defeating the Owls (2-6) at Philadelphia.
East Carolina (2-8) scored on the first play of the game when Anthony Thompson returned an intercepted pass 16 yards to the end zone, then got touchdowns on its next two possessions for a 21-0 first-quarter lead.
Princeton 45, Colgate 13--Jason Garrett scored on a 2-yard run, threw 2 touchdown passes and had a 61-yard scramble to set up one of three field goals by Chris Lutz as the Tigers routed the Red Raiders at Princeton, N.J.
Dartmouth 20, Columbia 10--Brendan Mahoney’s 67-yard punt return proved to be the winning touchdown as the Big Green beat the Lions in an Ivy League game at Hanover, N.H.
Columbia (1-7, 1-4), which has not won at Dartmouth since 1946, scored on Solomon Johnson’s 56-yard run early in the second half. Dartmouth is 3-5, 2-3.
Pennsylvania 31, Lafayette 17--Mike Waller rushed for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Bryan Keys rushed for 125 yards and another touchdown as the Quakers downed the Leopards at Easton, Pa.
Pennsylvania (8-0) forced 6 turnovers by Lafayette (6-2-1).
Boston U. 24, Harvard 23--Jim Schuman passed for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Terriers beat the Crimson at Cambridge, Mass.
Cornell 26, Yale 0--Scott Malaga ran for 122 yards and a touchdown and Aaron Sumida threw for two more as the Big Red scored an Ivy League victory over the Elis at Ithaca, N.Y.
