CSDH Clinches Tie for Soccer Title

Cal State Dominguez Hills clinched a tie for the California Collegiate Athletic Association men’s soccer championship by defeating Cal State Bakersfield, 3-0, at Carson on Saturday.
Mark Merino tallied his sixth goal of the season 14 minutes into the game. Joe Flanagan followed 10 minutes later with a 35-foot blast off a set-up from Matt Swindell. Robert Enriquez scored the second half’s only goal at the 60-minute mark from a Rich Gabaldon assist.
Dominguez Hills, now 13-4-2 overall, finishes the CCAA season with a 7-1-2 league mark. The Toros will meet Cal State Northridge, which defeated Chapman College, 3-0, on Saturday, in a game for the conference championship (and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs) at 11 a.m. today at Cal Poly Pomona.
