In “The Hero of Day Care,” a standout was the story of the conversion of ex-school trustee Don Donnelly, who went from a position of thinking that people should “assume their family obligation” and stay home to one where he now thinks that people must be directed toward providing enough day-care opportunities to permit children to achieve “basic literacy.” Finally, someone states the bottom line of family survival in the late 1980s!
