‘Cathy’s’ Suspension

I am appalled at The Times’ decision to censor Guisewite’s cartoon strips for being too political.
This strikes me as the action of a newspaper with a narrow, small-town mentality, not that of a newspaper purporting to represent a major, world-class metropolitan area and the future capital of the Pacific Rim.

View received 86 letters disapproving of The Times’ decision to withhold three “Cathy” comic strips and seven supporting the decision. About 500 readers also telephoned, mostly to protest the decision.
