Stringing Along

Talk about an unlikely teaming on vinyl: Don Johnson and . . . Jeff Daniels!
The “Miami Vice” star lured his co-star in his “Sweetheart’s Dance” movie into a recording booth. No, not to sing but to provide a little strumming support.
Daniels, who wrote a ballad for Johnson’s newest LP, accompanied his pal on the guitar. The album, “What If It Takes All Night,” will be released by Epic Records in February. Daniels’ song: “You Only Loved Me.”
Daniels’ rep told us the actor “has always played the guitar” and once had hopes of performing in a rock band.
Daniels’ ditty is not to be confused with the also lovey-dovey “ ‘Til I Loved You,” the Babs Streisand-Johnson duet that will be on the Johnson album. The same duet’s also the title cut on Babs’ latest album.
