Ground breaking is scheduled in North Hollywood today for the future headquarters of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Bob Hope is to host the ceremonies at 11 a.m.
A time capsule containing two Emmy Awards will be buried on the spot where a 25-foot replica of the Emmy statuette will later be built.
The new academy facilities will include offices, a 600-seat theater and an outdoor plaza with busts and memorabilia of the members of the Television Academy Hall of Fame.
The headquarters are part of a 22-acre Community Redevelopment Agency project on the northeast corner of Lankershim and Magnolia boulevards.
