Downey : Car Dealer to Remove Signs
The Downey City Council has voted unanimously to grant a request by Paramount Chevrolet Co. allowing the company 18 months to proceed with relocation and redevelopment negotiations with the city. The request was made at the council meeting Tuesday regarding a citation for a business sign violation under a 10-year-old sign ordinance
Richard Ferber, president of Paramount Chevrolet, said the company will remove a 96-square-foot roof sign, located on the west side of Paramount Boulevard, and a 153-square-foot pole sign, which the council said was obstructive. Ferber agreed not to replace either sign.
He also requested that negotiations with the Downey Redevelopment Agency for a new site in the city begin immediately. Ferber described the dealership’s present 6-lot facility at Paramount and Firestone boulevards as antiquated.
The company has been in Downey for the last 50 years.
