Mira Costa Falls to Irvine in Volleyball Final

Shed no tears for the Mira Costa girls’ volleyball team. The Mustangs aren’t crying despite their three-set loss to Irvine in the CIF 5-A championship game Saturday night at Marina High.
Irvine defeated Mira Costa 17-15, 15-10, 15-6.
Coach DeaLea Aldrich does not have a senior on the team and she reminded the Mustangs of that fact before the match.
“I told them that if we lost we don’t want to see anyone crying,” Aldrich said. “I told them the bottom line is every one of you babies will be back again.”
In the first set Mira Costa took a 7-4 lead and increased its advantage to 14-10 before Irvine rebounded to tie the game at 14.
