OXNARD : Library Fines to Rise as Much as Tenfold
- Share via
The Oxnard Public Library will double fines on overdue adult books and increase late fees on children’s titles by tenfold beginning Monday.
Overdue charges on all books will be 20 cents a day, up from 10 cents for adult titles and 2 cents for children’s books. Maximum fines of $5 for adult books and $2 for children’s titles will rise to $10.
The county library raised its fines to 20 cents a day on Feb. 1. In raising its late fees to the same level, Oxnard joins the county as one of the most punitive library systems in California, according to the state library in Sacramento.
