Irvine’s Seal Stops Capistrano Valley

MISSION VIEJO — Senior Mike Seal pitched a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and allowed an unearned run as Irvine defeated Capistrano Valley, 2-1, in a South Coast League game Friday at Capistrano Valley.

Seal (6-2) has allowed one earned run in his past 21 innings for Irvine (14-9-1, 6-6-1 in league). Irvine broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth, when Loc Tran tripled and scored on a single by Seal. Irvine scored in the first when Seal reached on an error, moved to second on a walk and scored on Jason Minici’s single.

Eric Kemper had an run-scoring single in the second after a dropped pop fly kept the inning alive for Capistrano Valley (13-9-1, 6-6-1).
