A fire caused an estimated $120,000 damage to an auto and boat customizing shop in Lancaster. There were no injuries.
The fire, in the 1100 block of West Avenue M near 10th Street West, was reported at 6:19 p.m. Thursday and was extinguished by 7 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
A car and boat were destroyed in the blaze, which caused $70,000 in damage to vehicles and equipment and about $50,000 in structural damage.
The owner of Custom Creations was working on the engine of a boat when a leaking gas was ignited by a spark from the engine, Capt. Darryl Bennett said.
Nearly the entire 2,000-square-foot structure caught fire and about 75% of the building was severely damaged, Bennett said.
