The mayors of the French Alpine towns accommodating the 1992 Winter Olympics said hotel bookings are below expectations, with between 30% and 40% of the rooms still available.
The mayors said major physical preparations for the Feb. 8-23 Games at Albertville and 11 other venues were complete.
The mayors added that only 60% to 70% of the hotel rooms in their towns were booked. But they said ticket sales were going well, with sellouts already for the men’s downhill at Val d’Isere and the figure skating finals at Albertville.
