In the Freeway League boys’ cross-country championships:
La Habra First--Brendon Mahon of La Habra won the three-mile race at Fullerton’s Craig Park in 15:26. James Mahon (15:39) was second and Robert Mahon (15:53) third. La Habra had 17 points, Sunny Hills 59, Sonora 77 and Troy 100.
In the Freeway League girls’ cross-country championships:
Buena Park Wins--Carrie Garritson of Sunny Hills won the three-mile race in 17:07, and teammate Amy Johnson was second in 19:41, but Buena Park scored 52 points for the team title. Fullerton (69) was second and Sunny Hills (73) third.
In Freeway League water polo:
Sunny Hills 6, Fullerton 5--Omar Amr scored his third goals with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter to break a 5-5 tie for Sunny Hills (13-11, 4-1), which won its 22nd consecutive league title.
In South Coast League water polo:
Capistrano Valley 10, Irvine 6--Jeremy Braxton-Brown scored three goals and Capistrano Valley (21-4, 5-0) clinched its second league title in school history. Irvine finished 2-3 in league.
In Sea View League girls’ volleyball:
Corona del Mar 3, University 0--Jennifer Stroffe had 12 kills as visiting Corona del Mar (9-1 in league) clinched the league title with a 15-8, 15-6, 15-11 sweep.
In Century League girls’ volleyball:
El Modena 3, Foothill 0--Marni Hichborn had nine kills and five blocks and Melizza Benitez had 20 assists for El Modena (17-1, 10-0), which captured the league championship. Foothill (8-2) is second.
