San Fernando High quarterback Leon Blunt completed seven of 12 passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 44-6 win over host Cleveland in a Northwest Valley Conference game on Friday night.
Blunt’s scoring passes measured 45 and 12 yards to Dwight McDuff and 23 yards to Brian Jackson. Blunt also scored on runs of four and eight yards for San Fernando (8-1, 5-1 in league play).
Cleveland (2-5-1, 1-4-1) scored its only points as time expired when Derrick Dumas caught an eight-yard pass from quarterback Brian Spear.
San Fernando held Cleveland to 12 yards in total offense in the first half as the Tigers led, 23-0, at intermission.
Amon Flanagan of San Fernando blocked two of Miguel Rivera’s punts in the first half, and Rivera’s pass on a fake punt in the first quarter was intercepted by Brian Brison. That play set up Fabian Galvan’s 20-yard field goal, which gave the Tigers a 9-0 lead.
LaKarlos Townsend, who missed last week’s game against Kennedy because of a bruised knee, did not play but said he expected to play next week.
