The UC San Diego men’s soccer team resumes the NCAA Division III playoffs this weekend with a home-field advantage. After a 3-2 victory against Cal Lutheran Sunday, UCSD announced Monday it will host the second and third rounds of the tournament at Triton Field.
Tenth-ranked UCSD (14-4-1) will play 18th-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh (14-2-2) at 1:30 Saturday, following the 11 a.m. game between seventh-ranked Fontbonne College (Mo.) and 20th-ranked MacMurray (Ill.). Saturday’s winners will play Sunday at 1 p.m., with the winner of that game advancing to the Final Four, Nov. 23-24, at a site to be determined.

Former Ramona center Travis Knight, who transferred to Alta High in Salt Lake City for his senior year, has orally committed to Connecticut.
The 6-foot-11 Knight had also considered Arizona State, Brigham Young and Syracuse before he committed to Connecticut on Sunday night, according to Ramona Coach Al Schaffer, for whom Knight played two seasons.
In March, Knight was a key to the Bulldogs’ winning their first San Diego Section title (Division IV) since they won the 1-A championship in 1973. Last season Knight averaged 18.7 points and 14 rebounds a game, blocked 112 shots and had 62 assists.
