Former Brookside S&L; Director Sentenced: David R. Altshuler was sentenced to six months in federal prison for his role in fraudulent real estate transactions involving two Los Angeles thrifts, Westwood Savings & Loan and the now-defunct Brookside Savings. An attorney, Altshuler, 43, served as a director of Brookside from 1984 to 1989. He pleaded guilty one year ago today to two felony counts. Five people have now been sent to prison in the Brookside and Westwood investigation.
