An RTD bus driver pleaded not guilty Tuesday to rape and attempted rape charges for the alleged sexual assaults on two women passengers who were alone with him on the bus.
Darryl Darnell Brooks, 41, was arraigned on one count each of rape and attempted rape for the two October incidents. The incidents took place in Southeast Los Angeles and Eagle Rock. His bail was set at $60,000 and he was ordered to return to court Nov. 22 for a preliminary hearing.
If he is convicted of both charges, he could receive a maximum possible sentence of nine to 12 years in prison, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Sindee Kain-Kerker.
