UC San Diego goes in search of its second consecutive and seventh overall Division III national championship on Friday in Rochester, N.Y. The Tritons (23-5), ranked No. 1 throughout the season, are the No. 1 seed in the Northeast Regional, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.
According to the NCAA selection committee, the West Region was not competitive enough to field a six-team tournament, so UCSD, La Verne and Menlo College were sent to the other three regionals. UCSD faces the winner of today’s match between Cortland State (46-11) and Brockport State (41-6).
The regional winner advances to the Final Four Nov. 22-23.
