The Only Way to Have Safe Sex Is Not To

I commend Howard Rosenberg for his column “What’s Missing From News of Johnson’s Plight?” (Calendar, Nov. 9).

I have a child conceived despite the careful use of a condom. To advertise condoms to the young as a safe way to be promiscuous is dishonest. Someone should advise Magic Johnson of this. I only got pregnant--other young people will die. A condom does not mean safe in any sense of the word.
