Hotel Occupancy Rates Down: Hotel room occupancy in Orange County dropped slightly in September, down to 62.1% from 64.2% a year earlier, according to the Irvine office of national accountancy and consulting firm. At the same time, the average hotel room rate in the county was $73.55, up 4.6% from last year’s $70.31, according to the report by Pannell Kerr Forster. For the first nine months of the year, hotel room occupancy was 65.3%, down 5.2% from 68.9% recorded last year.
