EL SEGUNDO — Dave Webber ran for 267 yards and five touchdowns, and Mike Boschenek made several big defensive plays as Laguna Hills disposed of San Fernando League champion El Segundo, 38-6, Friday night in a first-round game of the Division VII playoffs at El Segundo High.
Laguna Hills will play Temple City in the second round next weekend.
Webber had two two-yard touchdown runs, two one-yarders and a three-yarder as Laguna Hills improved to 7-3-1. El Segundo finished 8-3.
On El Segundo’s first play from scrimmage, quarterback Landon Wilson was sacked and fumbled, and Boschenek recovered at the El Segundo 36. Aided by two offside penalties and five Webber runs for 26 yards, Laguna Hills drove to the opening score, a three-yard run by Webber.
In the second quarter, Boschenek blocked Wilson’s punt, recovered the ball and carried it to the El Segundo 18, and Webber closed a four-play drive with the two-yard run.
In all, Boschenek, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior left end, had three sacks, two fumble recoveries, a blocked punt and a blocked PAT. He added a two-yard TD run on offense to close the scoring.
