Authorities on Monday were still attempting to identify the body of a teen-age victim in a suspected gang-related shooting.
Investigators said the victim was a male between 15 and 18 years old. He is believed to have suffered several gunshot wounds between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday, Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Helton said.
Helton said maintenance workers at the city’s Windsor Park found the body at 8:50 a.m. Monday near a fence in the southeastern corner of the park at 2915 W. La Verne Ave.
Neighbors near the park said they heard “several gunshots at or near the park” late Sunday night or early Monday morning, Helton said. But the neighbors did not report seeing any suspects, he said.
Helton said the victim was not carrying identification when police arrived.
