USC Defeats BYU in West Regional

Outside hitter Marcela Morales had 18 kills as the USC women’s volleyball team, ranked No. 14 in the nation, defeated Brigham Young, 15-7, 15-6, 1-15, 15-9, Friday night in the first round of the NCAA West Regional at Provo, Utah.
The Trojans (23-7) will meet top-ranked Stanford, which defeated Rhode Island, 15-1, 15-2, 15-11, Friday night.
Morales, a sophomore from Chile, and Cica Baccelli, a junior outside hitter from Brazil, were the main weapons for USC. Baccelli had 16 kills and eight blocks.
Freshman middle blocker Laurie Yust had 13 blocks for USC and senior middle blocker Stefanie Bodison had 11 kills and eight blocks.
