Rockwell Falls Behind on Contract: Rockwell International has fallen behind schedule on deliveries of MX missile guidance units, prompting the Air Force to issue a “show cause letter” last month to Rockwell to signify the Air Force’s concern. Rockwell was scheduled to deliver eight guidance systems units by now under a $137.6-million contract. Since the letter was issued, the firm has delivered the first three units. A Rockwell spokeswoman said the delay was caused by a subcontractor that delivered parts late, but the problem has been resolved and Rockwell anticipates regular deliveries. Rockwell won the MX contract after Northrop experienced production problems early in its program. But Northrop delivered its last guidance system a month ahead of schedule earlier this year, a company spokesman said.
