Charles Barkley continues to apologize for what he claims are misinterpretations in his autobiography.

Having already distanced himself from disparaging comments about fellow 76ers Armon Gilliam and Manute Bol, Barkley met with team owner Harold Katz.

In his book “Outrageous,” Barkley describes Katz as cheap and not very knowledgeable about basketball. After excerpts were published by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Katz implied that the frequent controversies surrounding Barkley were hurting the team. He indicated that at some point, the 76ers might be better off without Barkley.

After the one-hour meeting, Barkley said: “I never said he didn’t know anything about basketball. That was inaccurate.

“And I wanted him to know that thing I said about him being cheap was in jest,” Barkley said.
