4 Water Polo Players From UCI Named All-Americans

Four players from UC Irvine’s water polo team, which finished fourth in the nation this season, have earned All-American honors, it was announced Friday.

Steve Gill, Pablo Yrizar, Skylar Putman and Steve Froning were honored by the American Water Polo Coaches Assn. Gill, a junior, was a first-team selection. Yrizar was picked to the third team and Putman and Froning were honorable mention.

Two other local players were honored. Mike Burke (San Clemente High School) of Cal State Long Beach was named to the first team and Chris Oeding (Corona del Mar High) of California was a second-team selection.
