Great All-Star game moments

Bo Jackson led off the 1989 All-Star game at Anaheim Stadium with a 448-foot home run, a majestic moment in the history of the Midsummer Classic. A look at some others:
1933: It’s the first All-Star game, and Babe Ruth hits the first home run.
1934: Carl Hubbell strikes out Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin in order.
1949: Jackie Robinson, Don Newcombe, Roy Campanella and Larry Doby break the All-Star game color barrier.
1955: Stan Musial hits a walk-off home run — not that the term had been invented yet — as the NL erases a 5-0 deficit and wins, 6-5.
1970: Pete Rose knocks over Ray Fosse to score the winning run, separating Fosse’s shoulder.
1971: Reggie Jackson hits a 520-foot home run, off a light tower at Tiger Stadium.
1984: Fernando Valenzuela and Dwight Gooden combine for six consecutive strikeouts, with Valenzuela striking out Hall of Famers Dave Winfield, Reggie Jackson and George Brett.
1993: John Kruk has one foot almost in the dugout as he comically backs away from Randy Johnson’s 98-mph fastballs.
2001: Alex Rodriguez shifts to third base so a retiring Cal Ripken can play shortstop in his final All-Star game. Ripken homers.
2002: Bud Selig throws up his arms when both teams run out of pitchers. The game ends in a tie, and the next year the commissioner rewards the winning league with home-field advantage in the World Series.
2003: Eric Gagne, who converts all 55 save opportunities en route to the 2003 Cy Young Award, blows the save in the All-Star game on Hank Blalock’s homer.
2007: Ichiro Suzuki hits the first inside-the-park home run in All-Star history.
