A rookie San Diego police officer remained in critical condition from a gunshot wound to the head suffered early Saturday while chasing suspected drug dealers in Southeast San Diego. Officer Jerry Hartless, 24, of San Diego was in critical condition at UC San Diego Medical Center with a bullet lodged in his brain. Stacy Don Butler, 24, has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
