Free-agent pitcher John Candelaria signed a one-year contract with the New York Yankees after rejecting a similar deal with the New York Mets. Candelaria said he turned down the Mets because their starting rotation is set.
Candelaria, 34, was 8-6 with the Angels last season despite a stay at an alcohol rehabilitation center. He came to the Mets on Sept. 15 in exchange for minor league pitchers Shane Young and Jeff Richardson and was 2-0 for New York.
