It was lights out Sunday night at the Beverly Hills reopening of “Lies and Legends: The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin” at the Canon Theatre. A blown transformer not only canceled the opening night show devoted to the works of the late singer-songwriter, but the post-play party at nearby RJ’s restaurant as well. Producers Susan Dietz and Joe Stern regretfully dismissed an all-star crowd--including Corbin Bernsen and Amanda Pays, Tyne Daly, Ken Kragen, John and Nancy Ritter and Carl Reiner--soon after the show was scheduled to start. Quipped Steve Edwards about the non-event: “Harry would have had a big laugh.”
