Thousand Oaks Area Loses Power

About 1,700 Southern California Edison Co. customers in the northeast area of Thousand Oaks experienced a power outage about 8:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
Electricity was restored to about half of the residential and business customers by 9 p.m., said Dick Verbeck, district manager of of the power company.
It was not immediately known what caused the outage. “It could be anything from a piece of equipment failing to . . . a car hitting a utility pole,” Verbeck said.
