Tracinda Seeks TWA Waiver: Kirk Kerkorian’s Tracinda Corp. has asked the Transportation Department to clarify its decision last week approving the transfer of three Trans World Airlines U.S.-London routes to American Airlines in order to specify whether Tracinda can hold acquisition talks with TWA. Beverly Hills-based Tracinda had originally asked the DOT to postpone its final decision on the route transfer for 60 days to give it time to negotiate a merger. Tracinda had complained that TWA’s contract to sell the routes to American specifically prohibited TWA from holding merger talks and asked the DOT to order a waiver of that provision.
