Living in the Age of Instant History

Re “Boogieing on Back to the ‘70s” (April 26): Aren’t we jumping the gun on this instant history gambit? I mean now things seem to become “historical” almost before they finish happening, or become a new development before they occur.
Perhaps--extrapolating from the idea that I threw out baseball cards that now are worth fortunes--everything is of historical value, all discarded trash artifacts. Think of the millions we could save on landfills.
In the age of instant history, we see every occurrence as historical. But the term historical is now mundane; what next-- epochal ?
