Tekelec said its third-quarter earnings edged up 3% from a year earlier on a 28% jump in revenue, but said its performance is being limited by weak economies in the United States and overseas.
Tekelec, a Calabasas-based maker of telecommunications testing equipment, said its net income in the quarter ended Sept. 30 rose to $1.32 million from $1.28 million a year earlier. Its revenue climbed to $13.3 million from $10.4 million.
“The company’s results were satisfactory given the continuing slow economic conditions,” Tekelec President Peter N. Vicars said.
For the first nine months of 1991, Tekelec’s profit rose 15%, to $4.20 million from $3.65 million, while its nine-month revenue rose 36%, to $40.5 million from $29.8 million.
