All-State Forward From Cajon Plans to Sign With UCI

DeShawn Battle, a first-team all-state selection by Cal-Hi Sports, said Tuesday he plans to sign a letter of intent to play basketball at UC Irvine.

Battle, a 6-foot-6 forward from San Bernardino Cajon High School who averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots last year, said he probably will sign today, the first day of the early signing period.

“I’m signing with UC Irvine pretty much for sure,” Battle said.
